Homicide Unit Investigation

Michaela Briede

Just before midnight on May 28, 2013, Fort Mitchell KY Police were called to an apartment on Chelsea Circle in the Vinings of Fort Mitchell apartment complex for a reported shooting.  Arriving officers found the front door to the apartment forced open and 18-year-old Michaela Briede laying unconscious and unresponsive on her bedroom floor.  Paramedics were unable to restore Briede’s heartbeat and she was declared dead.  An autopsy later revealed that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Briede shared her apartment with a boyfriend who told police that he awoke to find two strange men in the couple’s bedroom.  At least one of the men was armed with a gun.  The men demanded money and drugs before fleeing the scene.  Additional suspects may have been involved in the home invasion.  The boyfriend survived the encounter without injury but was not able to identify the persons responsible for shooting Briede.
