Fatal Crash Investigation Update
September 28, 2020
On Sunday, August 23, 2020, at approximately 2:19 AM, the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to 3320 Reading Road to investigate a serious injury traffic crash.
A 2008 Dodge Nitro was traveling North on Reading Road. The Dodge Nitro struck a 2020 Kawasaki KX100 off road motorcycle in the rear being operated by Mr. Cameron Ferguson, M/22. The impact caused Mr. Ferguson to lose control of his motorcycle striking a 2020 Yamaha YZ85 off road motorcycle being operated by Mr. Michael Cook, M/21. The Dodge Nitro fled the scene of the crash and was found abandoned a short time later.
Mr. Ferguson sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by the Cincinnati Fire Department to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was being treated and listed in critical condition. On August 24, 2020, Mr. Ferguson succumbed to his injuries at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Mr. Cook sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by the Cincinnati Fire Department to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was treated and since released.
Both Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Cook were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Excessive speed is a factor in the crash.
Impairment as a factor is yet to be determined.
