England/Idlewild Park Thefts, Boone County, KY

Boone County Sheriff is attempting to identify the man in the surveillance photos or the Jeep Patriot.  Detectives are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles that occurred on March 15, 2014 while parked at the England/Idlewild Park located at 5550 Idlewild Road in Burlington, Kentucky.  The thefts are related to a vehicle broken into in Florence and one in Park Hills, Kentucky the day before March 14, 2014. The thieves targeted cars with purses/wallets locked inside.  The subjects smashed a window and removed the desired contents.  They also wrote/forged checks from the Park Hills & Florence victims’ checkbooks to one of the victims from the England/Idlewild Park using that victim’s checking deposit ticket and personal identification to complete the transaction at the various banks in Highland Heights, Taylor Mill, Alexandria, Kentucky and Montfort Heights, Ohio.  The forged checks were written in excess of $3,000 however, the subjects used a split deposit scheme – where half the amount was deposited and the other half returned in cash – to avoid suspicion.
