Blanchester Police Department Investigate an Aggravated Robbery at Tom’s Express Mart

At around 12:15am this morning police were called to Tom’s Express Mart, a convenience store located at 7529 Fairground Rd., on a report of an armed robbery. Officers arrived and learned that a robber entered the unlocked front door of the store after it closed at midnight, accosted the clerk with a handgun, and demanded cash. The clerk handed over the cash that was on hand, which was in excess of $1,000.

The man then fled the store on foot. The clerk stated the robber’s lower face was covered with a red and green bandana and had the hood of his sweatshirt pulled up over his head. He spoke with an Appalachian accent.

Officers are canvassing the homes around the store, and at this point it is believed a car was waiting for the robber in the 7500 block of Rosewood Drive, which runs behind the store. We are interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen a suspicious car in that area between 11:30pm last night and 12:30am this morning.

Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Crimestoppers is offering a reward of $500 for information leading to the arrest of any person involved in this violent crime. Tips can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers at (513)352-3040.
